Commenting on the announcement of 15 new coastal sites for offshore windfarms around the UK, Andrew Stunell MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Energy Minister, said:
"This is welcome news and long overdue. It gives British companies and British technologies the chance to benefit from the worldwide expansion of renewables."
Norman Baker MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, added:
"This is a welcome first step. But the Government needs to do much more if it is to make renewables the centrepiece of energy delivery in the 21st century.
"Offshore wind is one of the easier options. Ministers now need to grasp the nettle of onshore renewables."
