MP CONDUCTS LARGEST EVER SURVEY OF LOCAL BUSINESSES

Local MP, Norman Baker, is currently carrying out his largest ever survey of traders in the four towns within his constituency: Lewes, Newhaven, Seaford and Polegate.

The surveys, which are designed to reveal what local traders feel are the most important issues facing their businesses today and cover issues such as taxation, red tape, crime and public transport, are being delivered in each of the towns.

The local MP has already had successful visits to Newhaven and Polegate, accompanied by the President of the towns' respective Chambers of Commerce. This morning, Norman personally delivered forms to tens of businesses in Polegate. Similar walkabouts in Seaford and Lewes are scheduled for the coming weeks.

Norman Baker said:

"The two visits that I have already made to Newhaven and Polegate have been extremely interesting. I am very much looking forward to my visits to traders in Seaford and Lewes and to receiving the completed surveys.

"It is important that we have a strong business community, and a diverse one. I am pleased that in my constituency we have very many successful businesses - big and small - and I see it as part of my job to bat for them, whether it's with government of our local councils.

"The responses will really help me to understand what local business owners feel are the key issues facing them today and to identify those issues that I, as their MP, can take up on their behalf."
