Lewes MP Norman Baker has today welcomed 39 members of Lewes District Council to the Houses of Parliament for a guided tour of the building and the country's two legislative chambers. The tour provided the group with an extensive insight into the history of the building and included a look inside the chambers of both the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Afterwards, council staff got a chance to meet Norman and have a cup of tea in the visitors' restaurant. Some then went on to listen in the Public Gallery to Questions to David Blunkett, followed by a statement on Britain's railways from Alistair Darling.
Speaking after their trip Norman commented:
"I was delighted to welcome both officers and members of Lewes District Council to Parliament. I hope they enjoyed their day. They do an excellent job for our area and they certainly deserve a good day out. "
