LEWES MP GETS PROMISE THAT SOUTH CENTRAL WILL REPAINT STATIONS IN THE CONSTITUENCY

Lewes MP Norman Baker has today welcomed the decision by South Central trains to repaint all 11 local railway stations in his constituency. The promise emerged as part of a top-level meeting between Norman and senior management of South Central at the House of Commons.

From July through to December this year painters will move in to the region to redecorate all the stations in Norman's constituency: Cooksbridge, Plumpton, Lewes, Southease, Newhaven Harbour, Newhaven Town, Bishopstone, Seaford, Berwick, Glynde and Polegate.

Commenting on this Norman says:

"I warmly welcome this action by South Central trains, which is long overdue. My constituents should be able to wait for trains in pleasant surroundings - I raised this issue with South Central Trains at a meeting last year and I am glad to see that some action is finally being taken.

"If travelling by train can be made a more pleasant experience, then more people will be encouraged to leave their car at home and 'let the train take the strain'. Getting the stations looking clean and fresh is a small but important step. "
