Wivelsfield's MP, Norman Baker, has expressed concern about the decision of the County Council to halt negotiations with the Penfold Trust regarding the site for a new school for the village.
Norman Baker said:
"It is clearly worrying that negotiations have broken down between the County Council and the Penfold Trust. There is a desperate need for a new school for the village and this is undoubtedly a setback.
"I have discussed the matter with the County Council and have had strong assurances that they remain committed to a new school and that it is their top priority for new build. I understand why the County has taken the decision that they have and still think it probable that a new school can be achieved. I will be continuing to liaise with the County Council on this matter and helping where I can."
