Lewes MP Norman Baker has today welcomed the decision by the Department for Transport to construct a single carriageway bridge over the rail crossing at Beddingham within his constituency.
Norman says:
"This is the right decision in all respects and I welcome it. It is in line with the case I put to Transport Ministers when I met them last year. I've been convinced by new evidence from the Railway Inspectorate that it is necessary to separate road and rail for safety reasons but obviously all steps must now be taken to minimise the visual impact of this structure in what is a very sensitive location."

Please note that the A27 from Lewes to Polegate falls entirely within the Lewes parliamentary constituency
