Is This The Worst Kerbing In East Sussex? Fairlight Close A Disgrace, Says MP

Polegate's MP Norman Baker has nominated the pavement kerbing in Fairlight Close as the worst in the county.

The MP came across the eyesore on a visit to a local constituent and was horrified by what he saw.

"I couldn't believe what I saw," says the MP. "About half the kerbs were missing entirely, others were sitting loose, and there was one gaping hole like a couple of missing teeth that had been there so long that vegetation was now growing. The only attempt to remedy this at all had been to pour some tarmac into the gaps like gravy onto a meal. The close is incredibly unsightly. Local residents deserve better than this.

"I am not criticising the Highways division at Ringmer responsible for maintenance. It does its best on an incredibly tight budget. But I do question the priorities of both the Highways department and the county council itself that can be content with this sort of disgraceful eyesore."
