Local MP Gets More Frequent Clean-Ups For Seaford Station

Seaford's MP, Norman Baker, has today won a promise from rail operator, Southern, to step-up the track cleaning frequency at Seaford Station.

This announcement follows a complaint from Mr Baker to the local rail company after Seaford Town Council alerted him to the large amount of litter on the tracks.

Following the local MP's complaint, Southern have agreed to double the frequency of track cleaning in order that the station is cleared once every three months rather than just twice a year.

Commenting on this Norman says:

"I am pleased that Southern have responded to my complaint in a positive way and have agreed to increase the frequency of track cleaning.

"It is important that our railways are kept clear of debris, both for safety and environmental reasons. I also feel strongly that stations need to be made into more pleasant areas if people are to be encouraged to use the train and leave their cars at home."
