Local MP Welcomes Commitment To Increased Police Presence In Polegate

Sussex Police has accepted the need for a greater presence of uniformed offices in Polegate and has taken steps to address this.

Confirmation of the good news came in a recent meeting between Polegate's MP Norman Baker and Chief Inspector Rex Matthews, responsible for the Wealden District Area. A Community Support Officer expressly for Polegate has been appointed and is currently in training.

Norman Baker says:

" Fortunately Polegate is a relatively low-level crime area, but people in the town do feel they have a right to see more uniformed officers on the town's streets. This CSO appointment will go some way to address this, but in my view we need to aim for more full-time police officers dedicated only to Polegate; and for a shopfront presence for the police in Polegate High Street."
