Local MP Welcomes Extra Trains For Plumpton

Lewes MP Norman Baker has welcomed the announcement by Southern Trains to provide an all-year round Sunday service for Plumpton. He also welcomed further changes to the timetable which will allow both the weekday 2047 and 2147 services and the Saturday 1947, 2047 and 2147 services running between Victoria and Hastings to call additionally at Plumpton. The announcement comes as part of Southern's changes to its 2005 timetable and follows calls by Norman to extend the service to Plumpton.

Commenting on the announcement, Norman said:

"This announcement is very welcome indeed. I have long campaigned for an expansion to the services provided at Plumpton railway station so that my constituents can have an adequate train service which provides them with easy access to both London and the South Coast.

"This news then is very welcome - both for those of my constituents who don't have access to cars, but also for the environment by offering a much needed source of relief to the area's congested roads."
