Local MP Calls For Traffic Calming Measure To Tackle Lorry Menace On Hundred Acre Lane

Lewes MP, Norman Baker, has today called for immediate steps to be taken to tackle the problem of over-sized lorries causing chaos on the narrow and ill-suited Hundred Acre Lane in Wivelsfield Green.

The local MP has signed a petition to the County Council calling for action in dealing with the traffic issues of lorries and their effects on local residents. One resident has already had her chimney destroyed by a lorry pulling down electricity cables.

Commenting on this Norman says:

"It seems high time a little common sense was applied to resolve the problem of these juggernauts using narrow and highly unsuitable, country lanes.

"Measures need to be implemented by the County Council to address the legal loop-holes which are allowing massive lorries to trundle over rural environments and the concerns of their local residents.

"The County Council has a difficult problem on its hands, but needs to do more than shrug its shoulders."
