Local MP Congratulates Furniture Now On Funding Success

Lewes MP, Norman Baker, has today congratulated Furniture Now, a local furniture recycling scheme, on their successful bid for funding which will enable them to establish another FN! Furniture project in Eastbourne.

Furniture Now (or FN!) Was established in 1994 as a furniture re-use, recycling and training charity with headquarters in North Street Lewes. This latest award of funding will enable the charity to expand within the local area. The grant awarded by the Big Lottery Fund will, over three years, help with the set-up and running costs of the new Eastbourne branch.

Commenting on this Norman says:

"I am delighted that Furniture Now have been chosen for this funding award. The service that they offer in providing training and low-cost furniture in an environmentally sustainable way is a real asset to the town and local area.

"I am however, disappointed that Furniture Now are finding it so difficult to get longer-term funding commitments from funding bodies. The work that they do is incredibly worthwhile but their future remains uncertain because of a lack of money in the bank and uncertainty over where the next year's funding will come from."
