Local MP Warns NHS Trust: Don't Touch A&E At Princess Royal

Commenting on reports in the local press that the Princess Royal might soon lose its overnight Accident and Emergency facilities, Lewes MP Norman Baker says:

"The A&E services at the Princess Royal are vital for a wide area of both East and West Sussex. If patients requiring emergency medical help are forced to go to Brighton or Redhill, that could mean the difference between life and death. It would also put tremendous pressure on Brighton, where waiting times in A&E are already far too long.

"It is simply not good enough to tell my constituents in Wivelsfield Green or Chailey that they have to get to Brighton in an emergency. I thought NHS provision under this government was supposed to be getting better, not worse.

"I congratulate the local press on alerting the public to this threat and promising a robust response. On behalf of my constituents, I intend to be part of that response."
