Lewes MP Norman Baker has today written to the Chief Executive of British Telecom, Ben Verwaayen to challenge so called ‘one-off late payment’ charges being imposed on BT customers.
Phone bills now show a £5 charge being added to a customer’s bill for an alleged late payment.
He has asked for explanations on five separate points:
Commenting on this, Norman said:
“The matter has been raised by a number of constituents who are unhappy with the imposition of these charges on their telephone bill. I have also recently been subject to one of BT’s ‘one-off’ charges which I am personally not paying until I receive a satisfactory explanation from BT. Frankly, this looks like sharp practice.”
