Roche Diagnostics relocation offers new opportunities for Lewes and Newhaven

Reacting to the news that Lewes business Roche Diagnostics will be relocating from their Bell Street site in Lewes to a new, custom built site in Burgess Hill, local MP Norman Baker said:

“I am obviously saddened that Roche Diagnostics have taken the decision to move out of Lewes. They employ around 200 people at the Lewes premises and this will no doubt have a knock on effect for other shops and businesses in Lewes.

“I understand that the company is actively trying to market their premises in Bell Street so I hope it will not be empty after they move out next summer and that new jobs can be created through new business ventures.

“Next month the company will also be relocating its warehouse from Lewes to Newhaven, which is good news in the sense that some of the current jobs will remain in my constituency.

“I am also pleased that by moving to Burgess Hill, the company has chosen to remain in Sussex, which I hope means that those of my constituents who are currently employed by them will be able to continue working for the company.”
