MP publishes "shopping list" for Seaford car parking


Seaford’s MP has criticised East Sussex County Council for "a poor, unco-ordinated and ineffective" start to their review of parking in Seaford and published a ‘shopping list’ of action he believes should be taken.

The MP’s initiative follows a meeting with representatives of the Seaford Chamber of Commerce, and representations received directly from constituents.

Norman says: "Unfortunately, the County Council review of parking in Seaford has got off to a bad start, with a flawed questionnaire which failed to take into account the special nature of the town centre and the interests of traders in particular. I am pleased however that the County has had a ‘roadshow’, which has allowed some of the issues to be raised directly with officers. Indeed, I myself attended one of the events in order to get across the comments I had received."

The MP has now published a ‘shopping list’ of actions he believes would improve the parking arrangements in the town. The list includes:

Norman says: "After the unfortunate start to the parking review, the County Council needs to clarify its intentions as soon as possible. I believe the shopping list I have put forward will help the town and I urge the County to consider it constructively."
