Council promises MP it will install new pedestrian crossing on A259 Newhaven
A new puffin crossing is to be installed across the A259, East Sussex County Council has confirmed to the town’s MP Norman Baker, who has long argued for improved pedestrian safety along the busy road.
The council has confirmed that the puffin crossing will be installed around April next year, just to the east of the Newfield Arms. The plan will also include upgrading the street lighting in the vicinity further improving pedestrians safety.
Commenting on this Norman said:
"I have been asking the County Council for a while to provide pedestrians with safer means of crossing this stretch of road and it is excellent news that they have now confirmed when the work will go ahead. The street lighting upgrade is another welcome improvement."
