Local MP congratulates Sompriti on successful funding bid

Local Lib Dem MP, Norman Baker, has congratulated local charity, Sompriti, on their successful bid for funding from the government.

Sompriti, a local community led group who work towards the empowerment of black and minority ethnic people in East Sussex and the promotion of race equality, have won the award for their project to increase engagement and improve access to Adult Social Care Services in the local area.

The funding award comes from the Treasury’s Invest to Save Budget, a development fund aimed at providing support for projects that involve two or more public bodies working in partnership that deliver innovative responses to specific local needs. Sompriti are one of only thirty successful bids for funding in the country who are sharing a fund of £30 million.

Commenting on the situation, Norman Baker said:

"I am delighted that Sompriti have been so successful with their application for funding and that the Treasury has acknowledged the important work that they do by making this award. This is a richly deserved success as Sompriti have helped an enormous number of people in East Sussex since their initial lottery funding in 1999. I am familiar with the work of Sompriti, which is based in Lewes, and value the contribution it makes to the local area. I am sure that this financial support will enable them to continue going from strength to strength."
