Local Lib Dem MP, Norman Baker, has been unanimously re-elected as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Environment Group.
The All-Party Parliamentary Environment Group, a mix of parliamentarians and industry representatives, is tasked with raising awareness of environmental issues at Westminster. Some of its most recent work includes the publication of an independent report, 'Climate Change Action. The UK: Leader or Laggard?' which exposed the extent of the government's lack of progress in the battle against climate change.
Commenting on his re-election, Norman said:
"I am, of course, delighted to have been re-elected as Chair of All-Party Parliamentary Environment Group.
"Environmental issues are steadily climbing the political agenda and it is vitally important that we keep up the pressure on the Government to move forward swiftly and progressively on matters of environmental policy. The All-Party Group is here to do just that."
