MP demands action from County Council over Buckle Car Park in Seaford

Seaford MP Norman Baker has today criticised East Sussex County Council for failing to take action over people using the Buckle Car Park in Seaford as a place to park their campervans overnight.

The matter was brought to Norman’s attention by a number of Seaford residents, who are concerned by what they regard as about the misuse of the car park. Indeed, one constituent who lives nearby stated that two campervans in particular are now parked there every night.

The local MP contacted the County Council about the problem, but they replied that it was not a matter for them and referred the matter to Lewes District Council. The District, however, has confirmed that while they own the site, responsibility for managing it rests firmly with the County Council.

Speaking on the issue, Norman said "It is hardly surprising that the County Council has taken no action on this matter when they don’t even seem to know that they are responsible for the management of this piece of land. That, I am afraid, is all too typical of the distain and disregard the County Council has for Seaford.

"They now need to make sure that regular checks are made of the area to make sure its use as a place to stay overnight is ended.

"I have informed my constituents of the developments in this matter, and have requested that they contact me if this problem persists. I will not hesitate to bring this matter to the attention of the County Council if it has not been resolved to the satisfaction of my Seaford constituents."
