Local MP wins extra peak time train from London Bridge to Lewes and Polegate

Local MP Norman Baker is celebrating today after winning an extra peak-time train from London Bridge to his Lewes constituency on the East Coastway service.

Norman has been campaigning to have an extra direct train service from London Bridge during peak times for a number of months, and Southern have responded by introducing an extra service, meaning that trains to his constituency will soon be departing at 17:23 and 18:23 each working day.

Speaking on his victory, Norman said “I am glad to see that my many months of campaigning on behalf of my constituents has resulted in this success.

“I have been contacted by many commuters who use the East Coastway service from London Bridge and they have all expressed to me their desire to see an increased number of trains running during the evening.

“This also helps to iron out the present irregularity, which means that at present three trains arrive at London Bridge from the East Coastway in the morning, compared to only one leaving London Bridge in the evening.”
