Local MP Norman Baker has today welcomed the introduction of a new Sunday bus service which will take Seaford residents direct to the DGH in Eastbourne.
The number 26 service will run on Sundays and Bank Holidays and is operated by the Cuckmere Community Bus. The funding for the service comes as a result of a successful bid from the County Council to the Department of Transport under the ‘Rural Bus Challenge’ programme.
Speaking on the news, Norman said: “I would like to congratulate both the County Council and the Cuckmere Community Bus for being able to secure the funding necessary for this new service. We are in fact very lucky to have an organisation such as the Cuckmere Community Bus locally.
"I am sure that this new route will prove highly valuable to residents of Seaford. Getting to the DGH without a car is a long and laborious process and this new service will be much welcomed by my constituents in the town."
Note: Timetable details for the new service can be found at http://www.cuckmerebus.freeuk.com/26.htm.
