Newhaven MP submits objection to incinerator compulsory purchase order

Local MP Norman Baker has today submitted a written letter of objection to the public inquiry into the Compulsory Purchase Order for the acquisition of land at North Quay, Newhaven by East Sussex County Council who want to force the owner of the land to sell so that the Conservative council can proceed with the building of its hugely unpopular incinerator.

In his letter, the MP raises several points to the inspector, including:

Speaking on the issue, Norman said: “I welcome this public inquiry into the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) for the incinerator land, as it gives all of us who have campaigned vigorously over the years against this scheme a final chance to make our views heard.

“I am determined to stop this Tory incinerator, and encourage other like minded people to submit letters of objection to the inquiry.”

NOTES

1) If people would like to submit a written objection against the CPO to the public inquiry they will need to write to the Inspector, Mrs Jennifer Vyse, c/o Chris Banks, Persona Associates, West Point, Springfield Road, Horsham RH12 2PD.
