Local Lib Dem MP Norman Baker’s book about the death of Dr David Kelly has this week been shortlisted for the Channel 4 Political Book of the Year Award.
Mr Baker’s book, 'The Strange Death of David Kelly', which has received excellent reviews in a number of national publications, including The Sunday Times and The Sunday Telegraph, has been shortlisted alongside 6 other titles for the prestigious award.
The first print run of the book sold out within a fortnight of hitting bookshop shelves and has now been re-printed.
Mr Baker won the Channel 4 Political Award for Opposition Politician of the Year in 2002. The Channel 4 Awards are voted on by fellow MPs and members of the public.
Commenting, Norman said:
"I am pleased that the book has been so positively received by the public and the press and indeed that it has now also been short listed for a Channel 4 Political Award.
"While I am of course glad the book is doing so well, my real aim is to raise awareness of the circumstances of Dr Kelly’s death and the many flaws of the Hutton Inquiry which followed and to see a proper inquiry into the whole fiasco of the Iraq war, and a re-opening of the inquest into the death of the country’s most eminent weapons inspector."
