Seaford needs a town manager

A top-level meeting of key local players has endorsed the call for a town centre manager to be appointed to help the promotion and economic development of Seaford.

The meeting, called and chaired by the town's MP, included representatives from all three local councils - town, district and county - as well as the Chamber of Commerce, SEEDA, Business Link, the Seaford Community Partnership, the Seaford Residents' Association, Sussex Police, and the Environment Agency.

The meeting also discussed parking and signage matters, and policy towards Seaford's beach.

The action points arising from the meeting included:

Norman Baker says: "This was a very useful meeting and I am grateful to all who attended. I hope this has created momentum to get things moving, particularly with regards to the town centre manager idea. There was a strong feeling at the meeting that such a person could help pull together various issues and significantly help secure the economic prosperity of the town."

The MP will now be liaising with the various bodies present to co-ordinate progress on the various action points agreed.
