Norman Baker, the MP for Polegate, has today welcomed the news that a full council tax banding review will take place on all of the properties in Spurway Park.
The news came in response to a letter that Mr. Baker had written to the Chief Executive of the Valuation Office Agency, Andrew Hudson, to request that a review of the bandings on all dwellings in Spurway Park be instigated, with the aim of lowering the banding. This letter followed the concerns raised by a local resident who had contacted the MP.
Commenting on Mr. Hudson's response to his letter Norman said: "It was quite clear from the petition I received that the residents of Spurway Park have strong concerns that the Council Tax banding for their street is too high. I am therefore pleased that the VOA has concurred with my view, and that of the residents, that a full review needs to take place."
Mr. Hudson has advised that the residents contact the Local Taxation Team Leader at St Anne's House, 2 St Anne's Road, Eastbourne, BN21 3LG to outline any additional information that they may have to support the lowering of the band.
"I would encourage all of the residents of Spurway Park to contact the Local Taxation Team Leader to provide him with any supportive evidence that they may have in order to give this review the best chance of being successful."
