As part of his 'Tidy up Lewes' campaign, local MP Norman Baker today led a delegation of council officers, councillors and a representatives of Sussex Police on a tour around the town, highlighting to them areas of concern that had been brought to his attention by his constituents.
Norman started his campaign back in the summer, when he asked Lewes residents to contact him, informing him of any areas of the town that have become run down and untidy. The response he received was enormous, with a large number of concerned residents contacting him on a variety of issues.
In response, Norman decided to collate the complaints, and then take a group of key people on a tour of the areas of most concern.
Norman said: "Lewes is a very well preserved historic town, but even so there are some areas where rubbish has been allowed to collect and where the streets require a bit of maintenance.
"I am glad that I have been able to show the council officers the areas of concern, and look forward to them taking action in the near future."
The county and district officers have been left with a copy of the various complaints and suggestions that have been forwarded to the MP and promise to report back to him on their progress in due course.
