Polegate MP Norman Baker has today warned constituents not to get caught short while waiting at Polegate Train Station due to the lack of toilet facilities after a local constituent raised their concerns about the absence of both male and female toilets at the Station.
Commenting, Norman Baker said: "Polegate is a fairly large station, with much through traffic, and those who visit a station of its size would be right to expect there to be toilet facilities available. It is not good enough that no provision exists."
Norman has today written to the Managing Director of Southern on behalf of his constituent to make the request for toilets to be made available at this site.
Norman added: "Travelling by train is one of the most environmentally friendly forms of transportation and we must ensure that the facilities are there to make train trips as pleasant as possible. I do not, therefore, believe it to be unreasonable that passengers would view toilet facilities at major stations, such as Polegate, as necessary. I have therefore written to Chris Burchell, the Managing Director of Southern, urging him to consider the request for adequate toilet facilities at Polegate Station"
