18th Jan: Local MP Norman Baker meets Chailey School group at House of Commons

Lewes MP Norman Baker today met a delegation of pupils from Chailey School at the House of Commons, where he was able to answer a number of questions relating to his role as an MP both in Sussex and Westminster, after the pupils had completed a tour of the House.

During the question and answer session, the pupils raised a number of ongoing local issues, such as the proposed land raise near Newick, and suggestions of a number of additional houses in Wivelsfield.

The group also quizzed Mr Baker on his national role as the Lib Dems' Shadow Transport Secretary, and on a diverse range of other issues such as the Iraq War Inquiry, and issues relating to home education.

Norman Baker commented:

"I am always happy to meet constituents who come up to London , and was impressed by the intelligent questions this group posed. I was particularly struck by their interest in important local issues such as the proposed land raise near Newick.

"It is hugely encouraging to see young people engaged in issues of local and national importance, and I hope that the group found the visit educational and rewarding."
