31st Mar: Come and explain yourself to Plumpton residents MP Norman Baker tells EDF

Local MP Norman Baker has today written again to EDF's Chief Executive, Vincent de Rivaz, to demand urgent attention to the problems in the supply of electricity to Plumpton Green and East Chiltington.

This follows EDF's failure to respond to a letter Norman wrote to the Chief Executive at the beginning of March to request that a representative attends a parish council meeting to explain the regular interruptions and cuts to the power supply in the village.

Despite EDF originally stating they were 'confident' they could send someone to attend a meeting in April, the company has now reneged on that and have instead asked for a list of comments and questions that it can respond to in writing.

Commenting, Norman said: "It is frankly astonishing that EDF still refuses to account in person for its lamentable failures to supply Plumpton Green with a reliable electricity supply. No wonder the residents and business people in the village are growing ever more angry that the effect on their lives and livelihoods by power failures appear to be of no concern to EDF, who seems unwilling to take the matter seriously.

This is clearly unacceptable and I have today called on Vincent de Rivaz, Chief Executive of EDF, to personally intervene and ensure that the problems are not only urgently addressed but to ensure that a representative attends the parish council meeting in April."
