Lewes MP Norman Baker has today welcomed a speech by Lib Dem leader and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in which he sets out the Lib Dems' vision to make Britain a fairer and more liberal society while in government.
Clegg's speech includes several key guarantees, which will be met by the time the next election is called in 2015. These are:

"I welcome this speech and the encouraging message that the Deputy Prime Minister is expressing. There are many difficult challenges ahead, but I believe that the coalition government has made an excellent start in meeting these, not least because it has already implemented many Lib Dem policies.
"By committing to electoral reform, raising the income tax threshold to help the poorest in society, scrapping environmental disasters like Labour's third runway at Heathrow, and scrapping illiberal schemes such as ID cards, the government has shown that it is determined to make our country a fairer and greener place.
"I am confident that over the course of the next parliament, we can transform Britain into a country which is fairer, more prosperous and offers greater freedom for everyone."
